In response to reports on Neomi Rao’s record, End Rape on Campus Executive Director Jess Davidson issued the following statement:
“Neomi Rao’s comments are disqualifying for a judicial nominee or anyone interested in holding public office. Her comments condone victim blaming and perpetuate the rape culture in our schools and society that are dangerous to all individuals. Survivors are not “responsible” for the violence they experience, and I am disturbed by Rao’s suggestion otherwise. From the bench, Rao will have the opportunity to decide many issues essential to survivors – and whether their experiences matter, or not. Her disturbing and inaccurate comments make it clear that she is unfit for such a critical responsibility that will impact so many.”
