It is with immense sadness that I am writing you today with the news that End Rape On Campus has continued to struggle to recover in the last months.
Unfortunately, EROC has found itself in the position that we cannot continue to employ even this smaller team, and as of Friday, January 31st, only Kenyora Parham will remain on staff as the board continues to determine what the future looks like for the organization.
As we previously shared, in November the EROC board of directors made the difficult decision to furlough all but one member of our organization’s staff. This was due to the sudden and devastating revelation of financial decisions and actions of the previous Interim Executive Director.
In December, after working with Kenyora Parham, who the board has elevated from the role of Chief of Staff to acting Executive Director, we felt that we were in the position to bring back a limited number of staff from furlough. The board continued to work to determine if a viable pathway forward for EROC existed, while the smaller team undertook the hard work of standing back up the organization’s operations and projects.
We are thankful to all of EROC’s staff who have continued to show up in support of the organization and the survivors we serve throughout this period of uncertainty and hardship.
We are also grateful to the survivors, supporters, and other allies who have remained dedicated to EROC throughout this challenging time. To ensure that survivors continue to seek resources from EROC, our part-time social work coordinator, Mia Newell, will also remain with EROC to assist with survivor-specific inquiries.
The board will continue to work to determine if there is a viable pathway forward for EROC. We are committed to exhausting every possible option for the organization’s recovery in order to continue to serve the survivors who have put their faith in our mission.
